[Salon] Fwd: Funeral at Arlington for Ian Fishback

Sharing this from an email list I’m on which opposes torture, with this from Alberto Mora. Which I share only to show the importance, and tragedy, of Ian Fishback, who is to be memorialized and interred at Arlington National Cemetery this Tuesday, 8 August, at 11 am.

Sharing this in hopes that people here will attend this, to pay respects to someone who did so much to oppose torture, and was another victim of U.S. wars, and paid the ultimate price. As have Whistleblowers and those like Danny Sjursen who were chewed up and spit out by the MIC, Army Division.

Philip…

Many thanks for posting this. I’ll be there and I hope others can attend as well.

Dear colleagues:

As many of you know, former Army officer and anti-torture advocate Ian Fishback (https://t.co/Yoz2VyD1sT) died in 2021. He will be memorialized and interred at Arlington National Cemetery this Tuesday, 8 August, at 11am.

Via Chris Chivers (https://twitter.com/cjchivers/status/1679570390731964417?s=46&t=mxKmSmVwrkPN6105oiudjA), I wanted to pass on details to this group in case anyone wants to attend and pay their respects. Please feel free to connect with me offline if you have any logistics questions about getting to Arlington.

Ian was a good soldier and a good person, and he is (and will be) greatly missed. I wish we could have done more for him. May his memory be a blessing.

Phil
